This is a great chance for the two down trodden teams to relive some past glory and create some much needed excitement to the season. While it won’t be drawing in the record setting number of viewers past seasons have, it should be an interesting match up that will hopefully bring a full house to Sun Life Stadium. Miami currently leads the series 31-25 but has had difficulty with FSU the past few seasons with only two wins in the last seven outings.
For 2012, FSU had a surprising early season loss that has all but crushed their national championship contention, but they still hope to play spoiler for Miami’s bid and walk away as the AAC Division Champs. The idea of evening out the overall series record while Miami is in a slide will be an added bonus. FSU rebounded from their loss two weeks ago with a impressive trouncing of Boston College last week, 51-7. A strong showing against the Hurricanes would be a great momentum builder heading into the second half of the season, but a weak schedule pretty much eliminates their chance at the BCS rankings.
Miami has dropped its last two games and has a staggeringly weak run defense. Opponents are tallying 250 yards a game against the ‘Canes with a 5 yard per run average. The offensive passing game shows signs of greatness but consistency isn’t there. A win or even a close game might bring a few of their fare season fans back, but its going to be a huge challenge not to drop three in a row this season.
Al Golden understands what they face. “Great challenge. I believe it’s the best team we’ll face this year. I know there’s two other teams ranked higher than them right now. I think this is the most talented team we’ve seen this year, the most complete team and obviously coming from a big win against Boston College.”
The Seminoles are huge favorites going into the game which will air Saturday night 5 pm western time on ABC.
