University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is regarded as the #1 cancer treatment center in the country and nationally ranked in ear, nose & throat, gynecology and urology. MD Anderson has ranked as the #1 cancer care hospital in the country, 9 out of the last 11 years and is one of three original cancer care facilities established by the National Cancer Act of 1971.
Baylor University Medical Center, which started off as a private Good Samaritan hospital located in a renovated house, is now the premiere medical facility in the Dallas metro area. Baylor Hospital was the first known facility to establish a prepaid hospital insurance plan to help reduce the financial burden on patients during a struggling economic period. Today, it stands as the center of the Baylor Health Care System, a training facility that houses thousands of medical residents and nurse trainees and as a thriving medical center. BUMC received national ranking in gastroenterology, nephrology, pulmonology, gynecology, orthopedics and urology.
